High Wind Flamed Dark Terracotta Water Pitcher: Beautifully Darkened Matte Exterior with Warm Red Fire Undertones, Solid Smooth Surface

Terracotta water pitcher with a beautifully darkened, matte exterior over warm Cappadocian fire undertones. First bisque fired in a traditional kiln, later followed by open firing with local hardwoods under high winds. With our two-step process we create pieces with a variety of color gradients, patterns and textures. The flaming process creates a harder surface that is smoother and more resistant to chipping and cracking compared to regular earthenware. Designed to keep water cool through evaporative cooling: Capillary action causes water to evaporate through the pores of clay, making the liquid inside cooler than the outside temperature. Also a great piece of home decor. Can also be used as a wine carafe. Terracotta is a porous material and will naturally perspirate, aereateing the contents. We recommend that you let your wine sit for at least 30 minutes to ensure complete aeration! As unglazed terracotta is porous, cleaning agents may be absorbed during washing.
