The 3rd Animal Welfare Indonesia – International Conference

Jakarta, December 6, 2024 – The Animal Welfare Indonesia International Conference 2024 officially commenced today at Menara 165, Jakarta, with the theme “United for Animal Welfare: From Practices to Policy Reforms”.

This event was organized by the JAAN Domestic Indonesia Foundation and fully supported by FOUR PAWS International.

The conference was attended by over 432 participants, including experts, practitioners, communities, policymakers, and animal welfare advocates.

Additionally, 43 speakers from both domestic and international backgrounds shared their knowledge and expertise.

The conference serves as a vital platform to discuss strategic steps in advancing animal welfare in Indonesia.

The conference opened with welcoming remarks by:

  • Drh. Merry Ferdinandez, M.Si., Executive Director of JAAN Domestic
  • Dr. drh. Muhammad Munawaroh, MM., President of the Indonesian Veterinary Medical Association (PDHI)
  • Dr. drh. Agung Suganda, M.Si., Director General of Livestock and Animal Health, Ministry of Agriculture, who officially inaugurated the event.

The conference featured key sessions covering various important topics, including:

  • Humane Management of Rabies Populations by Dr. Elly Hiby (ICAM Coalition)
  • Three Key Factors for Animal Welfare Success by Dr. Martina Stephany (Four Paws International)
  • Collaboration for Advancing Animal Welfare by Prof. Dr. Ir. Ali Agus
