I’m Not Trash: The Story of a Cat Who Was Once Abandoned

I was abandoned. Not because I was naughty. Not because I was sick. But because I was no longer seen as important. A small cardboard box became my last shelter before being thrown to the side of the road. People walked by, some glanced, but none stopped. I stayed still. Afraid. Cold. Until someone in a uniform that read JAAN gently picked me up and said, “You’re not alone anymore.”

A Cold and Strange World

Before the shelter, my life was constantly on the move. From one house porch to an empty food stall. Sometimes I got leftover rice, sometimes I didn’t. The rain made me shiver, and my eyes were crusty with discharge, making it hard to see clearly.

I didn’t know why I was abandoned. Maybe I grew too big. Maybe the kids in that house got bored. But I never stopped waiting. Waiting for someone to come looking. But no one did.

When That Hand Touched Me

I was weak when they found me. My breaths were shallow. My body thin. My fur dull and greasy. But in the shelter, I wasn’t judged. They called me gently. They brushed me, cleaned me, gave me a small bed. Food was always available. But what comforted me the most… was that I was no longer alone.

In the Shelter, I No Longer Felt Unwanted

Day by day, I started learning to meow softly when I saw humans. I began to approach, brushing myself against them. I even started to play. Something I had long forgotten.

There are other cats here too. Some have lost their legs. Some carry wounds no one can see. But we all share one thing: we want to be loved.

We’re Not Difficult. We’re Just Hurt

Many say rescue cats are aggressive, hard to handle, not sweet. But they don’t know that we’ve lost everything. Our trust in humans was shattered. But we want to try again—as long as we’re given the chance.

We don’t ask for pity. We just want to be seen as living beings who can love too.Kami tidak minta dikasihani.

If You’re Reading This

Maybe you’re thinking about adopting a cat. Maybe you’re drawn to the fancy breeds in the store. But before that, remember us—waiting in the shelter. We don’t have pedigrees, but we have hearts.

Adopt. Be our first home that isn’t just temporary.

We’re not waiting in anger. We’re waiting with hope. Open this cage, and take one of us home. We’re ready to give you unconditional love.
