What is
Animal Hoarding ?

Animal hoarding is a complicated problem where someone keeps more animals than they can afford, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). The complexity of this situation stems from the fact that it involves mental health concerns, animal welfare, and public safety.

An individual who engages in animal hoarding will cause numerous issues for the animals, themselves, their cohabitants, and the community. This conduct may result in other health problems not previously discussed. If the animals are in really poor health, zoonotic disease can spread quickly. As per a survey conducted by “The Hoarding of Animals Research Consortium,” which gathered data from 71 cases in the United States and Canada, 83% of the perpetrators are female, 53% live in the same house as other family members or individuals (elderly and children), and 93% reside in a home that has a high risk of fire (Amanda I.R, 2008).
